Pictured from specimens found in Whippendell wood on 30/12/08 fruiting on fallen beech. On this occasion specimens
were found at several sites through Whippendell, each time on beech. The habit of fruiting in overlapping tiers
from a common base is typical of Pleurotus where the stem is positioned at the cup margin or may even be
absent. Fruiting bodies occur throughout the year, except in times of hard frost, on stumps and trunks of a variety
of living and dead trees including conifers and not uncommonly on prepared timber.
